Partners in Housing took on the Burton Apartments in 1995 as its first housing project. After being abandoned in the mid-1980s, the building was literally crumbling when the restoration began. Originally built in 1919, it is one of the oldest apartment houses in Indianapolis. Rehabilitation preserved the Spanish Revival style of the preservation-minded neighborhood association of St. Joseph.
