Enjoy these openings:
In the Harrison Gallery & Gallery Annex, Magic Mountain by Kyle Ragsdale. This collection of oil paintings, sculpted by palette knives, brings together figures of mystery in an anticipation of the unknown. The people and animals in each piece float around in fantastical colors of play as Ragsdale utilizes a monotype style, with each mountain in the background drawing the viewer forward with thick chunks of paint that further mold each scene. Each piece carries a different feeling, ultimately ending with the tension of what is to come and the connections that inhabit the in-between space. The viewer is invited to engage with each individual island and the expressiveness that each character brings.

In the City Gallery, Seasons Shift by Justin Vining. Working en plein air throughout the seasons, Justin Vining sets up his easel on Indianapolis streets, parks, and neighborhoods to capture the city as it unfolds in real time, from summer's long, golden light to the quiet hush of a fresh snowfall. His oil paintings celebrate the familiar corners of home, inviting viewers to see the everyday beauty of Indianapolis with fresh eyes.

In the Speck Gallery, Orbital Plein by Josh Rush. Bringing together two formative chapters of his practice, an Oxbow Fellowship and recent graduate work, this collection of oil paintings by Rush offers a varied look at the landscape and his evolving relationship to it.

In the Underground Gallery, Indiana Plein Air Painters Association, a juried member group exhibit. Discover stunning landscapes and captivating outdoor paintings from all over Indiana and beyond.

In the Hank & Dolly’s Gallery, Strings Attached by Chad Campbell. This collection of Campbell’s distinctive wire figures, taking on the shape of marionettes, tells a story of breaking free from preconceived notions and closing divisions.

In the Sky Gallery, Remnants and Fractures by Quincy Owens. This show comprises two bodies of work that play off each other, with stark black-and-white resin pieces set against a group of vivid paintings. Owens seeks to explore how the left and right hemispheres of his brain work together but separately, exploring beauty in fractures and faults.

Guests can also enjoy:
Around the Harrison Center grounds, take a walk and experience the opening of our annual Winter Window Walk. Each year, artists transform the sidewalk-level windows of the Harrison Center into imaginative displays. This winter, the theme is Candy Shoppe, and our windows will showcase a world of sweets!

In the Historic Gymnasium, enjoy dance performances by the Herron High School Dance Ensemble, inspired by Kyle Ragsdale’s latest work, and reprises of Art Dish performances throughout the years.

In the Sky Gallery, catch a screening of Pioneers of Lockerbie Square: The Revival of Indianapolis’s Oldest Neighborhood, an oral history project of the Lockerbie Square Neighborhood Foundation.

Hungry? Grab a bite across the courtyard from the Indi Taco food truck for delicious Indian-Mexican fusion.
