Marquee Events
We’re the people behind some of Downtown Indianapolis’ most iconic events of the year. From holiday cheer at Circle of Lights® to vibrant fireworks and entertainment at Fourth Fest, we organize and host free community gatherings that intertwine live entertainment, food and drink, and local vendors. Additionally, our annual HandleBar Hot Lap team-building competition and State of Downtown provide important opportunities for Downtown residents, employees, and stakeholders to connect and invest in Downtown.
Operations
365-days-a-year, we’re committed to ensuring Downtown looks its best through consistent, street-level operations work. DII’s boots on the ground teams, including the Clean Team, Safety Ambassador team, and homeless outreach team, quickly respond to inquiries and ensure a positive and welcoming experience for all. For added beautification pushes centered around large-scale events, we work with community volunteers to remove trash and graffiti, mulch flower beds, and perform other cleanliness tasks.
Marketing
Through creative marketing strategies, we spark connection, bring people together, and build community pride. DII’s owned marketing channels—including social media, newsletter and website—serve as resources for residents and visitors, keeping them up to date on Downtown events, programming, and amenities. In-depth campaigns, such as Winter Wanderland—shining a spotlight on Downtown’s diverse holiday programming—add an increased level of immersion with environmental, print, and digital assets.
Public Spaces & Infrastructure
As Downtown Indianapolis’ primary place-based management organization, DII is responsible for overseeing key public spaces including Monument Circle and Georgia Street. We coordinate critical events and programs in these spaces, offering free weekly programming and facilitating third-party rentals. Our placemaking initiatives—like SPARK on the Circle, a temporary park-like environment featuring public seating, games, arts, and live music—create welcoming spaces where the community can come together and experience the heart of Downtown.
