Membership FAQs
Created as a public/private partnership in 1993, Downtown Indy Alliance (originally named “Indianapolis Downtown, Inc.”) was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit to meet the growing urban place management and marketing needs for Downtown Indianapolis. This membership-based, civic nonprofit continues its mission today focusing on the economic success, vitality and livability of Downtown Indianapolis.
Downtown Indianapolis is defined as the regional center; an area bounded by 16th Street on the north, I-65/I-70 on the east and south and Harding Street on the west, however, Downtown Indy Alliance has supporters that surpass the Downtown borders and welcome all who choose to be a part of Downtown Indianapolis.
As a private, nonprofit organization, the majority of Downtown Indy Alliance’s funding comes from business and corporate memberships.
Annual dues vary by level of membership and can range from $500 to $40,000.
Your return on investment as a DIA member varies by membership level, but every partnership provides valuable benefits through increased visibility, exclusive access, and collective efforts that strengthen Downtown’s vitality and vibrancy. Together, we create a more welcoming, active, and thriving city center that attracts residents, visitors, customers, and continued investment. By investing in Downtown, members help fuel the momentum that makes our city a place where businesses and the community can thrive.
Downtown Indy Alliance is an urban place management organization focused on the economic success, vitality and livability of Downtown Indianapolis. DIA is the only not-for-profit organization uniquely positioned to address Downtown’s growth and well-being, including its continued development, management, activation and marketing. Our efforts include marketing Downtown Indianapolis as a great place to live, work, and play, placemaking public spaces in Downtown Indianapolis, and striving to keep our Downtown clean, safe, and beautiful with boots-on-the-ground operations. Visit Indy is a sales and marketing organization serving as Marion County’s destination management organization and convention and visitors bureau. It seeks to increase the number of visitors to the entire city for convention and leisure travel. DIA manages the urban core that Visit Indy sells outside of Central Indiana. The Indy Chamber focuses on creating a thriving business environment for all Central Indiana businesses through networking and advocacy.
DIA hosts regular meetings for its members around urban place management issues such as parking, security, marketing, beautification and panhandling/homelessness. In addition, DIA offers multiple engagement and networking opportunities throughout the year for members focused on topics such as retail strategy, future urban developments and placemaking.
