Sip on Science Lecture Series
Thursday October 30th

Meet in the Boyle Garage for the first monthly lecture from Kayla, a local PhD student. Free to attend!

About the lecture:

Have you ever heard of the phrase “breaking the seal”? In this 20 minute talk, we will explore the science behind why alcohol may send you to the bathroom over….and over…..and over. From how your kidneys filter water to the hormones that help regulate it, you will learn what is really happening in your body when you lift a pint. Expect a little scientific information, a little myth-busting, and a fun fact for the next time you have a round with friends, and someone says, “I need to use the restroom, but I don’t want to break the seal”.

Meet the speaker: Kayla Tennessen is a PhD student studying biochemistry and molecular biology. When she isn’t in the lab studying a protein involved in Parkinson’s Disease, she is doing improv here in Indianapolis. Now, she is on a mission to make science interesting and accessible to everyone -- and what better way than with a pint?
