In partnership with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, audiences will take a journey through the music history and stories of East Asia. Through live chamber music, storytelling, and multimedia, "Spirit of the East" explores the rich traditions of China, Japan, and Korea and the cultural exchange fostered by the Silk Routes. Featuring works by Karen Tanaka and Isang Yun, this engaging program reveals how music transcends borders, connecting cultures across centuries and reminding us of our shared humanity.
Spirit of the East is part of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra's Education and Community Engagement series, History in Harmony. Created by Amy Kniffen and performed by Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra musicians, the series uses live music and storytelling to illuminate history, culture, and the human experience.
