Celebrate Black-Owned Businesses Back Downtown

To celebrate Black History Month, we want to give a shout out to black-owned local businesses Downtown. Of course, we don’t want to celebrate these establishments only this month, but every month of the year. Read more about these businesses and add them to your Indy go-to list!

Grab a bite

     When was the last time you had authentic Ethiopian food? Axum Ethiopian Restaurant has the best Dero Alicha, Gomen Wot, and Whole chickpeas. There are vegan options, friendly workers, and delicious Ethiopian beer.

     If you want a mix of sweet and savory, check out Maxine’s Chicken & Waffles where they provide the “taste of love in every bite.” Made from fresh ingredients at an affordable price and generous servings, Maxine’s will make you feel like you are at grandma’s house.

     For a sweet treat, go to Gordon’s Milkshake Bar and order from Gordon’s Signature Menu of ice cream nachos, beignets, cinnamon apple tamales, and more!

     A&M Bakery Cafe also has plenty of desserts to choose from along with signature breakfast items and delicious lunch options. During the winter, they operate as a web based business, but you can catch them at the Garfield and Irvington Garden Club Farmers Markets in the spring and summer.
