New additions to Downtown this September 2023

September was the month of barbeque in Downtown Indy! The Portland, OR based Pig Pen BBQ moved its operations to The Garage Food Hall in Bottleworks District and Roosters BBQ opened for business in Circle Centre Mall’s Dining Pavilion. Burgeezy also joins the Downtown Canal Walk as a vegan food option while the Sheraton Hotel introduced Monumental Coffee, just steps from Monument Circle. To round-out September, Loudmouth Books opened in Herron-Morton Place, serving as “Indy's only ‘banned’ bookstore” spotlighting the work of Black and LGBTQ+ authors. Pig Pen BBQ, 906 Carrollton Ave

Originally from Portland, OR, owners Alex Ranch and Michael Floyd brought their barbeque flavors with them to Indianapolis as The Garage Food Hall’s newest addition, Pig Pen BBQ. The restaurant offers various barbeque options including ribs, pulled pork sandwiches, mac and cheese, baked beans, coleslaw, and more.

Monumental Coffee, 31 W Ohio St

The Sheraton Indianapolis City Centre Hotel opened Monumental Coffee on September 8 as an in-house tenant with both grab-and-go and sit-down service options. Monumental Coffee serves several Starbucks products, including espressos, coffee, tea, refreshers, Frappuccinos®, and an assortment of bakery items.

Roosters BBQ, 49 W Maryland St

Roosters BBQ opened its doors in the Circle Centre Dining Pavilion earlier this month. Roosters owner Eddie Owens proudly offers authentic barbecue with a trademarked rich, smoky flavor. Circle Centre’s Dining Pavilion is located on level three of the mall.

Burgeezy, 335 W 9th St, Suite D

Indy’s first plant-based burger joint, Burgeezy, is now open for business along the Downtown Canal Walk. The Black-owned restaurant features a completely dairy, meat, and egg free menu with a wide selection of comfort inspired dishes. Dig into their loaded Philly cheesesteak veggie burger or enjoy savory bit size options including crinkle cut fries and plant-based nuggets. View the full menu HERE.

Loudmouth Books, 212 E 16th St

Located in Herron-Morton Place, Loudmouth Books opened at the end of September and serves as “Indy’s only ‘banned’ bookstore” with a mission to amplify the work of Black and LGBTQ+ authors. The bookstore, founded by Indianapolis native and bestselling author Leah Johnson, also features interactive experiences for readers including community discussions with authors, book launch parties, and signings. The store is open Tuesday-Saturday from 11-6 p.m. and Sundays from 11-5 p.m. State tuned for updates and special events on the store’s Instagram.
