4th Fest and Downtown Fireworks Return with Grand Finale Partner

Indiana529 Savings Plan joins UA 440 and Indiana Donor Network in supporting fireworks

INDIANAPOLIS - - Downtown Indy, Inc. (DII) announced its newest partner for its annual Downtown 4th of July Fireworks celebration (Downtown Indy’s Fourth Fest presented by UA Local 440) with an Indiana529 agreement as the Grand Finale sponsor. Today, on “529” day (today’s date), the Indiana Education Savings Authority signed an agreement to bring an expanded finale to the annual Downtown fireworks celebration that occurs near the Indiana War Memorial and American Legion Mall campus.

Downtown Indy’s Fourth Fest presented by UA Local 440 will kick-off at 6 p.m. with live music, a Kids Zone, and local food, beer, and ice cream on St Clair St., American Legion Mall, and North Street, followed by a 10:15 p.m. fireworks launch from the top of the 500 N. Meridian building. UA Local 440, representing more than 2,800 workers in the mechanical piping industry across Central Indiana, serves as the title sponsor in addition to the Capital Improvement Board, Visit Indy, and stage sponsor Indiana Donor Network and Donate Life Indiana.

Now, to bring greater awareness to the new name and look of Indiana’s CollegeChoice 529 Savings Plans to Indiana529, and to support Indy’s civic celebration of July 4th, Indiana 529’s new branding will conclude the event with a spectacular grand fireworks finale.

Since 1971, Indianapolis’ Downtown fireworks display was shot off of the Regions Tower – originally known as the Indiana National Bank building. With the construction of new residential units on once-vacant lots along Delaware and New York streets, fire code and safety protocols necessitated a move in 2021. Since then, the Downtown fireworks display has been shot off of the 500 N. Meridian Building, just south of the Scottish Rite Cathedral.

This year, DII invites Central Indiana residents to enjoy the fireworks from the American Legion Mall and Indiana War Memorial Grounds – the best views in the city -- and explore this year’s inaugural pre-event street festival, featuring on-site vendors ranging from Gordon’s Milkshake Bar to Las Tortugas. The Indiana Donor Network/Donate Life Indiana stage will be activated on North Street beginning at 6 p.m. with live entertainment and pre-event interviews emceed by Radio-One personalities. High-energy party band Living Proof is set to headline with opening act Pavel & Direct Contact, a Jazz, Salsa, and Latin-infused pop band.
