Join us as Joseph Mella, director and curator of the Herron Galleries, discusses the intersection of business, law, and design with Karen E Laine.

E Laine, a businesswoman, attorney, and designer who graduated from IU McKinney School of Law in 1992, has worked as a prosecutor as well as a criminal defense attorney throughout her legal career. She then went into the home renovation business, appearing on the television show “Good Bones” with her daughter Mina. E Laine frequently creates one-of-a-kind works of art and is involved in the overall design process of “Good Bones,” which is now in its seventh season.

This event is part of the Jordan H. and Joan R. Leibman Lecture Series. In 2004, the Leibman Lecture Series was established at IUPUI to investigate issues concerning the legal and business environment of the arts. It is a collaboration between the IU Kelley School of Business in Indianapolis, the IU McKinney School of Law, and the Herron School of Art and Design at IUPUI.

IN-PERSON: E Laine’s talk is free and open to the public, and it will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2022, at 5:30 p.m. in Eskenazi Hall’s Basile Auditorium. A reception will follow. Masks are currently required at indoor events for the health and safety of the IU community.

ONLINE: The talk will also be live streamed beginning at 5:30 p.m. at facebook.com/HerronGalleries. Guests can register in advance to attend the event virtually via Zoom by going to go.iu.edu/4fjD.
