As Governor of Indiana and then Vice President of the United States, Thomas Marshall was a witness to some of the biggest political issues of his time. From questions of eugenics to popular democracy to disability and presidential succession, Marshall’s decisions impacted American history in profound ways. This talk will look both at his time as governor, and also why, as vice president, he did not force the issue of Woodrow Wilson resigning after he had suffered a stroke.
