Spirit & Place is launching its Spirit & Place Presents series in partnership with Indiana University Research, Indiana University Bloomington Arts & Humanities Council, Indiana University Indianapolis School of Liberal Arts Center for Africana Studies and Culture, and Bloomington Roots.

The Spirit & Place Presents series invites nationally recognized artists, musicians, dancers, and other creatives to share their work and spiritual inspirations. This inaugural event will feature stories and performances by New York Times best-selling novelist, award-winning songwriter, educator, and food activist, Alice Randall. Her new memoir, My Black Country, celebrates the power of Black influences on country music. Joining Randall with a performance is multilingual singer/songwriter Leyla McCalla, founding member of Our Native Daughters and alum of the Grammy-winning The Carolina Chocolate Drops.

The evening is a tribute to GRATITUDE, the theme for the 2024 Spirit & Place Festival which kicks off on November 1 and runs through November 10.
