In celebration of Juneteenth, a federally designated holiday commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans, Indiana Landmarks’ Black Heritage Preservation Program presents a special art show and concert at Indiana Landmarks Center honoring Indiana’s Black heritage.

Featured acts include Indianapolis-based contemporary gospel group Men in the Fire, R&B group The Downstroke Band, and improv comedians Act A Foo, with emcee Thomas “Sparkle Sox” Griffin.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to see an art exhibit by WE ARE Indy Arts on display in Indiana Landmarks Center’s Rapp Family Gallery. WE ARE Indy Arts’ mission is to create avenues for Indy artists and artists of color to showcase their work. The Juneteenth exhibit will showcase a variety of mediums, including paintings, drawings, sculpture, and mixed media.

Tickets are $25/general admission ($20 Indiana Landmarks members). VIP tickets cost $50/person ($40 for Indiana Landmarks members) and include premium concert seating and a pre-concert reception and meet-the-artist event beginning at 4 p.m. in the Rapp Family Gallery, where ticket holders can enjoy hors d’oeuvres and purchase art on display.

Doors open for general admission ticket holders beginning at 5:30 p.m. The concert runs 6-8 p.m. at Indiana Landmarks Center, which is accessible to all. General admission attendees may visit the art gallery after the concert.

Proceeds benefit Indiana Landmarks’ Black Heritage Preservation Program.
