Connect to Indianapolis’ diverse heritage while navigating the charming Herron-Morton Place Historic Neighborhood. On this walking tour, guides will share stories from each chapter of the neighborhood’s 160-year history and delve deeply into its unique role as a hub of LGBTQ+ life and culture during some of the community’s most vulnerable decades.

Participants will explore an array of landmarks, including exteriors of Herron High School, the Talbott Theater, a Quaker meetinghouse, nineteenth- and twentieth-century houses, and more. Tourgoers will better understand the evolving nature of historic urban neighborhoods and appreciate the importance of preserving diverse landmarks.

Tickets include one milkshake or non-dairy alternative from Baby’s to enjoy during the tour.

This primarily outdoor tour departs from the lawn of Herron High School (110 East 16th Street, Indianapolis). Groups will cover approximately one and one-half-miles over the course of 90 minutes.

Presented by Indiana Landmarks, Indy Pride, and the Herron-Morton Place Neighborhood Association.
