Experience “Let the Oppressed Go Free”, a sculpture by world-renowned artist Timothy Schmalz, at Roberts Park United Methodist Church (401 N Delaware St) before the end of August. This piece is a haunting representation of the diverse faces of human trafficking that sparks a challenging conversation about an often invisible problem in our society. People of every age can become victims of human trafficking, especially those from vulnerable communities both locally and around the world. In the artist’s own words, “Awareness is the first weapon to fight human trafficking.”

The only other cast of this sculpture is in Schio, Italy. Roberts Park UMC is the permanent home of two other Schmalz sculptures: “Homeless Jesus,” (located on the east side of the church’s parking lot) and “When I Was Hungry and Thirsty” (located at the front of the church on Delaware Street).
