The White House has always been a combination of the “people’s house” and the home of the First Family. Every president and first lady have had to determine how they share the executive mansion with the American people while maintaining room for their private life.
In the upcoming exhibit, Life in the White House, visitors will discover how the Harrison family navigated private and public life while living in the “people’s house.” Join us for the grand opening of this exhibit on January 25th, 2024 to be amongst the first to see rarely displayed photographs, memorabilia, letters, and personal effects belonging to various members of the Harrison family while living in the White House. The exhibit will be open to the public and be included with general admission from January 26 through December 30, 2024.
This exhibit is made possible through the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site’s New Century Curator collaboration with the IUPUI Museum Studies program. The initiative seeks to share the Presidential Site’s nationally significant collection in meaningful and relevant ways, while providing unique opportunities for emerging museum professionals to engage in collaborative training, hands-on experience, conservation, preservation, and innovative exhibit design.
This open house style reception includes light hors d’oeuvres and complimentary beverages.
