Mitch McVicker's musical journey began by working with the late Rich Mullins, author of the hit song, "Awesome God." The two performed concerts, wrote songs and, for a time, lived a very simple life among the Navajo people in the dessert of New Mexico.
Shortly after a car wreck killed Mullins and badly injured Mitch, a song the two penned together, “My Deliverer,” was given the GMA Dove Award for song of the year…all while McVicker was still deep in a lengthy and difficult recovery period.
After his recovery, Mitch continued his career, influenced by Mullins in music and thought yet with his own distinct voice and style. McVicker’s solo career has spanned over 2200 concerts in 49 states and 13 countries. Along with recording 11 full-length albums, he has made 2 EPs, and released 2 live concert DVDs.
Mitch McVicker's concert is a little bit Mark Twain meets MacGyver. His quirky and inventive approach includes deep song lyrics, unconventional instruments, and reflective storytelling. His concert connects the everyday with the otherworldly.
There is no admission fee for this event. A love offering will be taken to benefit Urban Hope Indy, a Christian ministry whose mission is to mentor at-risk youth in central Indiana. What the world calls mentorship, Urban Hope calls discipleship. Urban Hope's motto is, "Just One Life!" We have only one short life here, we want to do crazy, amazing and lasting things with it. When you create a difference in a child’s life, you not only impact their life, you impact everyone influenced by them throughout their entire life. We can begin transforming the world today by believing in Just One Life.
