Sheafer + King Modern is excited to announce our upcoming exhibit of the work of the late Chicago artist James Bruch (1942-2023). This will be the first time any of these fantastic paintings have been seen publically.

During his career, Bruch was the Executive Art Director and Vice President of Leo Burnett, one of the top advertising firms in the world. Throughout his life, painting was his avocation, and he spent the bulk of his free time painting in his garage...but he never let anyone outside of the family see his work.

This is an exhibit that will absolutely be worth coming to see in person. In the 1960s Bruch adopted a style of abstract painting where he painted over the same work again and again building up layers of paint. This gives these pieces a depth that is impossible to appreciate in photographs.

He also worked in a variety of other styles that will be represented from 1970s anti-war paintings to detailed drawings based on old master paintings.

We will be offering Bruch's work for sale for the first time. We will have over 100 paintings and drawings on exhibit from Sept. 29-Oct. 29, and dozens more available online.

Please join us for an opening reception on September 29 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Sheafer + King Modern, The Corner Bazaar, and Solomon Paris. 1103B East 52nd st. Indianapolis, IN 46205.
