Day in the Life of Rowdie
Category Downtown Vibe
Do you ever wonder what it's like to be the coolest mascot in all of sports? Rowdie, the always funny and sometimes mischievous mascot of your Indianapolis Indians, is here to tell you! Follow Rowdie on a day full of fun and games as he prepares to welcome his fans to Victory Field. Then, don't miss the Indians' final six-game homestand of the season against the Rochester Red Wings on September 19-24.
8:03 a.m. – Wake up, stretch my legs, and start my morning coffee. I have a pretty busy day today since it's game day, so this caffeine should keep me going!
8:47 a.m. – Time to go to today's community appearance! I'm a bear, so I get a lot of looks when I drive around. It’s okay though, I like to be the center of attention!
9:00 a.m. – Spread some good ‘ole anticipation for the Indians and our upcoming games! Very soon, we enter a six-game series against the Rochester Red Wings, and September 22-24 is Fan Appreciation Weekend! I can't wait to spend time with the best fans in baseball at Victory Field!
10:30 a.m. – Head back home to relax and eat some lunch before my day gets really busy. I get my fair share of fruit, nuts, and honey, and maybe a stadium hot dog to add to the mix.
11:15 a.m. – My favorite downtime activity is opening fan mail! I love reading all of the messages from my very favorite fan base. Today, I’m writing back to an 8-year-old girl named Madison, who wants me to come to her birthday party. Happy Birthday, Madison!
12:45 p.m. – Head to the field to get to work preparing for tonight's game! We have lots of giveaways and raffles planned, so I'm putting the finishing touches on some fan prize packs! Tonight's include foam fingers, hats, stickers, and my personal favorite, a signed photo of me!
1:30 p.m. – Next up on the agenda, rolling t-shirts for t-shirt tosses. I love showing off how far I can throw during the game!
3:45 p.m. – Bring my special uniform up to the dressing room. We’re moving precious cargo here! From here, I just finish up little jobs until it’s time to gear up for the game.
5:45 p.m. – My awesome Rowdie Crew arrives to help me get ready for the long night ahead! We have a team meeting and go over everyone’s responsibilities, mine being the most important job, of course!
6:30 p.m. – I go to my Bear Cave on the service level, hop back into my jersey, and go over my script for the pregame introduction. I have to make sure I get everything right!
6:50 p.m. – I meet with the 'Play Ball! Kid' and the Junior Announcer, who always bring energy and excitement to any Indians game. We make sure to snap some cool pics together before heading to the field!
7:05 p.m. – The game starts! I follow my script and make sure I’m always where I’m supposed to be. T-shirt tosses are my favorite, but I also love running into the stands to spend time with my stellar fans!
9:15 p.m. – After singing Take Me Out to the Ball Game during the seventh-inning stretch, I get to take pictures and sign autographs for my biggest fans at the Rowdie backdrop behind Section 120. Following the Indians’ victory, I make my way to the field for a very special occasion – postgame fireworks! I get to help with the Spark for Change launch by standing there and looking super cool for fans! It’s a hard job, I know.
10:15 p.m. – Head back home after a long day of work. I love my job, but it’s time to catch some serious rest before we do it all again tomorrow!
