Behind the Scenes of Circle of Lights® with IBEW Local 481
Category Downtown Vibe
IBEW Local 481 and its volunteers are crucial to the annual Circle of Lights® holiday celebration in Downtown Indy. Every year since 1962, IBEW 481 volunteer retirees dedicate their time and energy at the Indiana State Fairgrounds by hand-checking each of the 4,784 multi-color light bulbs attached to 52 garland strands that are hung for the occasion.
Jeff Wheeler, IBEW 481 business manager said, “Hundreds of men and women of IBEW 481 volunteer their time year after year for this great tradition and we wouldn’t have it any other way.” Circle of Lights® wouldn’t be the same without these dedicated volunteers!
See these garland strands come to life with energy at the 61st Downtown Indy, Inc. Circle of Lights® presented by IBEW 481 on November 24, the day after Thanksgiving. Attend the live event starting at 6:00 p.m. which will air exclusively on WTHR Channel 13. Want to start celebrating Circle of Lights® early this year? Swing by Monument Circle on November 11 to see more than 200 IBEW 481 volunteers prepare for the occasion by installing the lights on the Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument!
