Downtown Indy, Inc. kicks off 30th Anniversary Celebration
Public invited to submit nominations for ‘Spirit of Downtown Indy Award’ and share photos highlighting the Mile Square
INDIANAPOLIS - - Downtown Indy, Inc. (DII) announced a call for nominations from the public for individuals who have had a singular, positive impact and whose actions have inspired others to invest and engage in Downtown Indianapolis. The inaugural “Spirit of Downtown Indy” award, open to public nominations, will be presented at the organization’s 2023 State of Downtown and 30th Anniversary Celebration on September 28, 2023.
The award seeks to recognize a person who through their employment or residential life has demonstrated innovation and positivity to improve Downtown for all who live, work and visit. Further, the award will be presented to someone who has overcome what others might label as ‘obstacles’ by pushing boundaries to positively shape Downtown Indianapolis. Nominations can be made between now and August 18 online at https://downtownindy.org/services.
“What makes Indianapolis unique is the true cross-section of people who feel pride and ownership of the space – from small business owners to corporate leaders, from long-time residents to first-time renters, and from hospitality industry workers to arts and cultural institutions,” said Taylor Schaffer, president and CEO of Downtown Indy, Inc. “This public call for nominations will help us recognize someone who has a passion for inspiring others and has been and continues to be a driving force behind positive transformation and the betterment of Downtown.”
To add to the vibrancy of its 30th Anniversary, DII is asking the public to submit original photos that exemplify why they love Downtown using the hashtag #DowntownIndy30 on Instagram. From skyscrapers to people in motion, Instagram users are given creative freedom to capture the energy of Downtown with submissions being accepted until September 4.
