The Indiana State Library has served the citizens of Indiana since 1825. Just a few steps away from the Indiana Statehouse, the magnificent limestone building housing both the state library and the Indiana Historical Bureau was dedicated in 1934 and is an incredible example of early 1930s American architecture constructed with Indiana limestone, sandstone and walnut.

Open to the public for a variety of needs including genealogy, Indiana history, the Talking Books and Braille library, rare books and manuscripts, conservation and reference and government services, the state library also serves as a free facility for meetings and special events available to state agencies and the community.

Please contact the library for information about tours, meeting rooms, upcoming events and research materials.
