Serving both residents and vistors to our great city has been our primary mission for over 155 years.  The strong tradition of the Indianapolis Fire Department is carried proudly by the over 1205 sworn members of the IFD and supported by a 65 member civilian staff.

Through fire prevention and life safety education programsIndianapolis firefighters work hand in hand with residents and businesses to make sure their families stay safe. It is our goal to remain a national leader in the fire service by providing  the most comprehensive and up to date information for families who live, work, visit  and play in our city 24/7.
